California Indian baskets are renowned for their diversity, craftsmanship, and magnificence. The Kumeyaa-Ipai Interpretive Center in Poway presented Diania Caudell (Luiseño), a member of California Indian Basket Weavers Association, to teach a class on basket weaving on Saturday, September 19, 2015. Twenty-one basketmakers of all ages participated.

After a demonstration, participants learned to weave a Cherokee-style basket and everyone went home with the basket they made.
